Clean Slate started out as a rescue run out of our home in Estacada, Oregon, before we discovered a 17,000 square foot school building in Kentucky on Ebay. Much to our astonishment, we ended up as high bidders on the building when the auction closed in February of 2007, and shortly thereafter packed up all sixty-five animals in residence and made the 2500-mile trek cross-country in an old transit bus outfitted with wall-to-wall crates and all of our worldly possessions. Now, the dogs exercise in an old gymnasium, meals are prepared in the 750-square foot commercial kitchen, and our rescued farm animals spend their days in the former ball field. The transition from Oregon to the wilds of Kentucky has been disconcerting at times, but we're pleased to find ourselves in a world where adventures and hilarity are around every corner, and our services in animal rescue are desperately needed. To learn more about the day-to-day strife of animal rescue here at Clean Slate, check out our daily blog.
